Nolan L. Phillips Service Award

History

Introduced at the 2015 Harford Chapter Banquet the Nolan L. Phillips Service Award was created to honor and recognize those Arrowmen who have given outstanding service to the Harford Chapter and the Order of the Arrow. The Nolan L. Phillips Service Award was initially created by Thomas "Boomer" Carr (2014-2015 Harford Chapter Chief) as a way to honor Nolan L. Phillips (2009-2016 Harford Chapter Adviser). The award is reserved for an Arrowman who demonstrates exemplary, unselfish service, and devotion to the welfare of others within the Harford Chapter and the Order of the Arrow as exhibited by its namesake Nolan L. Phillips. This is the highest and most prestigious honor that the Chapter presents to its fellow Arrowmen. Recipients serve as a true example of leadership in service.

Annually, the Harford Chapter may present up to two awards. The youth recipient is selected by the Chapter Adviser and his/her Chapter Associate Advisers. Conversely, the adult recipient is selected by the Chapter Chief and his Chapter Vice Chiefs. The award need not be given should no worthy candidate emerge through the selection process. If the Chapter presents more than one award, one must be to a youth under the age of 21.
